Roy Huneycutt purchased Locust Lumber Company as a future opportunity for himself and his family. Locust Lumber started off as a small saw-mill operation and provided his two boys, Joel and Leon, with an opportunity to learn the business from the ground up.
We have migrated away from the original saw-mill operation to become a full-service retail building supply store. By 1995, Locust Lumber had expanded into Union County where they now have a 267,000 square-foot indoor facility. 2012 brought with it the introduction of a new facility in Southern Pines, North Carolina. Today Locust Lumber is part of the BMC Family which serves 45 metropolitan areas across 18 states.
Locust Lumber was acquired by BMC in February of 2019. BMC is one of the leading providers of diversified building products and services to builders, contractors and professional remodelers in the U.S. residential housing market. BMC is on the forefront of innovation, continually creating solutions to make homebuilding BETTER, FASTER, SAFER and GREENER. Learn more about BMC here.
